Beginner Crochet Heart Pattern

This sweet little heart is the perfect project for crochet beginners. It uses only basic stitches and can be completed in about 30 minutes!

Materials Needed

• Worsted weight yarn in your favorite color (approx. 20 yards)
• 5mm (H/8) crochet hook
• Yarn needle for weaving in ends
• Fiberfill stuffing (small amount)

Abbreviations

• ch — chain
• sc — single crochet
• hdc — half double crochet
• dc — double crochet
• sl st — slip stitch

Pattern Instructions

Row 1: Start with a magic ring, ch 1, work 2 sc into the ring. (2 sts)

Row 2: 2 sc in each st around. (4 sts)

Row 3: *sc in next st, 2 sc in next st* repeat around. (6 sts)

Row 4: *sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st* repeat around. (8 sts)

Row 5-6: sc in each st around. (8 sts)

Make TWO of these pieces. Do not fasten off the second piece.

Joining

Place both pieces side by side. Working through both pieces together, sc around the top to join, creating the heart shape. Stuff lightly as you go, then close.
